Support to the work of associations
Find out what kind of support associations can get from state authorities and public institutions, and where they can get free information, consultation and training services
The Office for Cooperation with NGOs carries out expert activities within the scope of the Government of the Republic of Croatia related to the creation of conditions for cooperation and partnership with the non-profit sector, especially with associations in the Republic of Croatia.The Office for Cooperation with NGOs:
- provides information on ongoing calls for proposals for financing associations from the state budget and European Union funds
- co-finances EU projects of associations
- programs and monitors projects within the EU programme for the civil society sector (IPA and the European Social Fund)
- as the National Contact Point within the Programme Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) 2021-2027 provides technical support to applicants and implementers of projects contracted under the Programme, and conducts informative and educational activities for beneficiaries of the Programme throughout Croatia
- provides information on previously funded projects of associations from public sources
- provides assistance for achieving cooperation between associations and individual state authorities
- provides assistance in finding answers to other questions about cooperation between the state and associations.

The Council for the Civil Society Development enables representatives of associations from thirteen areas of activity to have regular dialogue with the competent state authorities on all important issues for the operation and development of associations in the Republic of Croatia.

Competent administrative authorities in counties are responsible for the following:
- registration of associations
- keeping a register of associations and issuing certificates from that register
- performance of activities related to the dissolution of associations
- carrying out liquidation proceedings of associations
- carrying out procedures for deleting associations from the Register of Associations
- carrying out inspections of the work of associations in accordance with the law.
Ministry of Justice, Public Administration and Digital Transformation
Ministry of Finance:
- enters associations the Register of Non-Profit Organisations
- collects financial statements of associations.

The National Foundation for Civil Society Development was established with the fundamental purpose of promoting and developing civil society in the Republic of Croatia. The Foundation:
- provides expert and financial support to programmes that promote the sustainability of the non-profit sector, cross-sectoral cooperation, citizens’ initiatives, philanthropy and volunteering, and that improve democratic institutions of the society
- provides institutional support for the purpose of stabilising the work of associations
- provides free workshops for potential applicants to calls for proposals for grants from the European Social Fund and public sources.
