The right to medical rehabilitation of disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian Homeland War veterans

As a disabled Croatian Homeland War veteran and a Croatian Homeland War veteran whose wound, injury, illness, aggravation of the illness or the occurrence of the illness are a direct consequence of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia, you are entitled to hospital medical rehabilitation.
 

Requirements to exercise this right

The right to medical rehabilitation for the same illness, injury or wounding is exercised once a year, and disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans with group I and II bodily disability may exercise this right twice a year.
 
You may exercise this right if you meet the following requirements:
 
  • the wound, injury, illness, aggravation of the illness or the occurrence of the illness are a direct consequence of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia
  • it is not possible to conduct outpatient rehabilitation.
 

How to exercise this right

You should send the following to the address of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans (Trg Nevenke Topalušić 1, 10 000 Zagreb):
 
  • application for hospital medical rehabilitation (Form No. 1) – filled out by the beneficiary
  • Form No. 2 is to be filled out by the selected primary care physician based on the findings and opinion of specialists
  • relevant medical documentation
  • copy of the enforceable decision on the recognition of the disabled Croatian Homeland War veteran status
  • copy of the findings and opinion of the senior experts’ panel in the procedure for the recognition of the disabled Croatian Homeland War veteran status
  • proof that the wound, injury, illness, aggravation of the illness or the occurrence of the illness of the disabled Croatian Homeland War veteran is a direct consequence of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia (decision on the recognised right to disability pension according to the regulation governing the rights of Croatian Homeland War veterans and their family members or a decision adopted in a special procedure to determine whether the wound, injury, illness, aggravation of the illness or the occurrence of the illness is a direct consequence of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia).
 
The decision on the right to hospital medical rehabilitation is adopted by the Minister of Croatian veterans based on the opinion of the Committee for approving the right to hospital medical rehabilitation and physical therapy of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans.
 
Hospital medical rehabilitation of disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian Homeland War veterans is carried out in healthcare institutions in the Republic of Croatia with which the Ministry of Croatian Veterans has concluded an Agreement on the provision of hospital medical rehabilitation services to disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian Homeland War veterans.
