Healthcare outside the mandatory health insurance rights standard

If your illness, wound or injury is a direct consequence of participating in the Homeland War, you are entitled to a higher standard of healthcare

Croatian Homeland War veterans whose wounds, injuries, illness, aggravation of the illness or the occurrence of the illness are a direct consequence of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia, in addition to rights under mandatory health insurance are entitled to healthcare outside the mandatory health insurance rights standard :
  • right to medical rehabilitation
  • right to orthopaedic and other medical aids
  • right to compensation for the difference in the price of treatment and medicinal products from the supplementary list of medicinal products of the Croatian Health Insurance Institute
  • right to use healthcare abroad accompanied by another person.
Each general, regional or clinical hospital in the Republic of Croatia appoints a coordinator for the veteran population. The Ministry of Health has published on its website lists and contact details of coordinators for Croatian Homeland War veterans and their family members.
