Treatment of disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian veterans in the hyperbaric chamber

Disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian Homeland War veterans are entitled to treatment in a hyperbaric chamber

As a group I disabled Croatian Homeland War veteran with 100% bodily disability, you are entitled to treatment in a hyperbaric chamber (barochamber). This right may also be exercised by group I disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans who do not have 100% bodily disability and Croatian Homeland War veterans based on the expert assessment of physicians. Group I disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans with 100% bodily disability have priority in treatment.
 
Treatment is carried out in hyperbaric chambers (barochambers) by inhaling 100% oxygen through a face mask or helmet at elevated pressure, which improves the dissolution of oxygen in the blood and delivery to insufficiently circulated organs and tissues.
 

Locations

 
Treatment is carried out in:
  • Split – in the hyperbaric chamber of the Institute of Maritime Medicine of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia. For beneficiaries and the persons accompanying them, accommodation with full board is provided in the Hotel "Zagreb" for the duration of the treatment.
  • the City of Zagreb and Crikvenica – in cooperation with the Polyclinic for Baromedicine and Occupational Medicine “OXY”. For beneficiaries, there is the possibility of accommodation in a house in Zaprešić or in the Institution for comprehensive care for members of the 1st Guards Brigade “Tigrovi” (“Tigers”).
 

How to exercise this right

 
The application for treatment in a barochamber should be sent to the address of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, Trg Nevenke Topalušić 1, 10 000 Zagreb.
A copy of the overall medical history must be submitted with the application for treatment.
The decision on the right to treatment in the hyperbaric chamber is adopted by the Minister based on the opinion of the Committee for the treatment of disabled Croatian Homeland War veterans and Croatian Homeland War veterans in the hyperbaric chamber.
