Housing care for citizens whose homes were damaged in the earthquake
The Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets pays rent for a replacement apartment for citizens who were left without a home in the recent earthquakeOn 14 May 2020, the Government adopted the Decision under which a public call was issued on 19 May 2020 for financing rent for housing care of persons whose properties were damaged in the earthquake in the territory of the City of Zagreb, Zagreb County and Krapina-Zagorje County. The public call received 456 applications.
The housing care measure applies to citizens who have no other residential premises they can move in within a radius of 20 kilometres from their damaged property.
The rent financing parameters were derived from the subsidised residential construction programme. The rent financing measure will be implemented by 1 September 2021 at the latest, i.e. until the reconstruction of the damaged property, review of the extent of damage or potential accommodation in a state-owned apartment.
The rent for one person (single person) paid by the Ministry amounts to a maximum of HRK 2,450, and for a family (four members) up to HRK 4,550.
For single persons, rent is financed for an apartment with the surface area of up to 35 square metres, with an additional ten square metres per person, namely at the price of HRK 70 per square metre.
The rent is paid directly to the tenant’s account.
