Croatian Island Product

The Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds awards the quality label “Croatian Island product” which aims to stimulate production and marketing as well as to promote original and innovative island products, traditions and heritage


The label is awarded to island products and intangible goods for the purpose of preserving island tradition and identity through a public call for the award of the label “Croatian Island product”, based on an application for an island product that meets the conditions and criteria stipulated by the Islands Act, Ordinance on the implementation of the Programme “Croatian Island product” regarding the scope, number of members and composition of expert panels for the award of the label “Croatian Island product”, the manner of keeping records of entities that have been awarded the label “Croatian Island product” and the manner of exercising control over the use of the label “Croatian Island product”, the Programme “Croatian Island product”, and a public invitation.

The groups of island products for which the designation “Croatian Island product” is assigned are:

a) foodstuffs
B) beverages
C) Chemical products
D) applied art and design
e) the intangible good.

The decision on the award of the designation “Croatian Island product” to the island entity is issued on the basis of the proposal of the expert panel for a period of 5 years.

The records of island entities, i.e. island products and intangible goods marked “Croatian Island product”, as well as the control over the use of this designation, are carried out by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.

The figurative representations of the designation “Croatian Island product” are recorded in the official data collection on trademark registrations maintained by the State Intellectual property Office as guarantee marks, owned by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds (under registration numbers: Z20190175, Z20190176, Z20190177, Z20190178, Z20190179).

Over 16 years of implementation, 1345 island products from 28 islands and the Peljesac peninsula have been labelled “Croatian Island product”, and the current product register is available on the website of the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds.
