Programmes for pupils with developmental disabilities

Depending on the type and severity of developmental disabilities of your child, one of the four adapted programmes, which are carried out in regular schools or special education institutions, shall be determined

The adapted education programme is determined on the basis of assessed psychophysical competences of pupils with developmental disabilities. These include:
  • regular programme with individualised procedures;
  • regular programme with the adjustment of content and individualised procedures;
  • special programme with individualised procedures;
  • special programme with individualised procedures or special programme for the acquirement of competences in everyday life and work skills with individualised procedures.
The adapted education programmes are carried out in regular or special education institutions in accordance with the Education Institutions Network. 

Regular or special programme?

The adapted education programme for pupils with developmental disabilities is determined by the council for determining the psychophysical condition of a child. This examination is carried out upon the child’s enrolment in primary school or during their education, if developmental disabilities that did not exist before occur. 

The regular programme with individualised procedures is determined for pupils who, taking into account the type of disability, can keep up with the regular education plan and programme/curriculum without any content limitations, but need individualised procedures due to their functioning specificities.
 
The regular programme with the adjustment of content individualised procedures is determined for pupils who, taking into account the type of disability, cannot keep up with the regular education plan and programme / curriculum without any content limitations, and need individualised procedures and adjustment of content due to their functioning specificities.
 
The special programme with individualised procedures is comprised of specially structured education plans and programmes / curricula designed according to the pupil's abilities and competences.
