Double length of service

Your time spent in the Homeland War will be counted as double the period of insurance, under certain requirements

If you are a Croatian veteran who was employed during the participation in the Homeland War or if your insurance period was recognised on another basis, the time spent in the Homeland War will be counted as double the insurance period.

If you were not employed or your insurance period was not recognised on another basis, the time spent in the Homeland War will be counted as special, double length of service.

The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) entered the double length of service in the employment record book on the basis of a certificate issued by the Ministry of Defence, the competent Regional Department for Defence Affairs, and the competent authority of the Ministry of the Interior.

As from 1 July 2013, entries in the employment record book have been replaced by electronic data management and exchange; however, the already-issued employment record books remain public documents. The double length of service during the time spent in the Homeland War is not entered in the e-employment record book; the length of service is recognised on the basis of a certificate in the procedure of recognising the right to a pension.
