Old-age pension

As a Croatian veteran you may be entitled to an old-age pension under certain requirements

As a Croatian Homeland War Veteran, your age limit for acquiring the right to an old-age pension stipulated by the Pension Insurance Act has been lowered under the provision that entered into force on 1 January 2019.

The age limit is lowered by:
  • four months if you participated in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia in the combat sector from 100 days to five months
  • one month for each month of participating in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia in the combat sector if you participated in the defence of the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia in the combat sector for more than five months.
If you meet the requirements for an old-age pension or an early retirement old-age pension, and you are a Croatian veteran, your pension may be increased. The increase in the monthly amount of the pension depends on the length of time you have spent in the defence of the Republic of Croatia in the combat sector.
