Status of a Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veteran

A Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veteran is a Croatian Homeland War veteran who has suffered at least a 20-percent bodily disability

A bodily disability is considered to be: 
  • a wound or injury sustained by a Croatian veteran when defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia
  • detainment in an enemy prison, camp or other enemy facility while taking part in defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia
  • illness or aggravation of the illness, or the occurrence of the illness, if it is a direct consequence of taking part in defending the sovereignty of the Republic of Croatia.
You may submit your application for recognition of the status as a Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veteran and related rights to the administrative authority in your county or to the City Office for War Veterans in Zagreb, depending on your residence. 

In the procedure of recognising the status as a Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veteran, you will undergo an expert evaluation before the Institute for Expert Evaluation, Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of People with Disabilities, and if it is a case of recognising the status as a Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veteran on the grounds of an illness, then before the expert evaluation you will undergo an expert assessment at an authorised healthcare institution.
