Green algae pollution

If you come across green algae that are polluting the Adriatic Sea, please contact the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries

One of the most pressing issues threatening the Adriatic Sea is the spread of green algae Caulerpa taxifolia and Caulerpa racemosa that are spreading uncontrollably as they have no natural enemy in the Adriatic, which is having a drastically impact on the biological, ecological and landscape diversity of the seabed.

You can find more details on the invasive Caulerpa algae genus on the website of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.
