All pregnant women are entitled to nine clinical examinations and three ultrasound scans. Each visit to the antenatal clinic should include a:
  • Blood pressure test,
  • Quick urine test with a test strip to check the urine for protein and glucose,
  • Body weight check,
  • Gynaecological examination.

It is recommended that you also undergo a dental examination and pay extra care to your oral hygiene during pregnancy.

Risky pregnancy

If it is established that there are certain risks associated with the pregnancy, the number of appointments with the chosen primary care gynaecological team (a specialist in gynaecology and obstetrics and a nurse) will be increased based on the physician’s assessment.
