Report a missing person

If a person is missing, immediately report this in a police station or, exceptionally, by calling 192 or 112 when an emergency search and rescue response is required

If you are seriously worried about a person's safety and wellbeing, you do not know where this person is for a reasonably acceptable period and have made sure that they are missing, you need to immediately report this in the nearest police station or the police station in the area where the person has gone missing.
If necessary, a missing person can also be reported by calling telephone numbers 192 or 112, but this option should only be resorted to if you are unable to come to the police station or if an emergency search and rescue response is required (for example, in case of a disaster at sea, natural disaster, etc.).

You can come to the police station and sign the protocol of the missing person’s report.

How can report a missing person

A missing person can be reported by anyone having any information or reasonable suspicion that a certain person has gone missing, and they can file the report to the police in person. In case of children and underage persons, a missing person’s report is filed by the parent, legal representative or guardian.

How long before you can report a missing person?

If a child or underage person goes missing, this has to be reported immediately, without delay, irrelevant of the reason for them missing (leaving of their own free will, criminal offence, etc.).

To report that a person is missing, you do not have to wait for a certain period of time to pass (e.g. 24 hours, etc.). This delay could be of crucial importance to the search operation being successful. Leave the decision regarding which actions need to be taken to the professionals—the police.
