Rights of members of the armed forces and civilians disabled in war and their family members

Special legal protection of members of the armed forces and civilians disabled in World War II, civilians disabled in the Homeland War, members of the armed forces disabled in peacetime and their family members includes special rights and additional rights and benefits

Protection of members of the armed forces and civilians disabled in World War II, civilians disabled in the Homeland War, members of the armed forces disabled in peacetime and their family members is provided with the following rights:
  • Personal disability allowance
  • Allowance for care and assistance provided by another person
  • Orthopaedic allowance
  • Family disability allowance
  • Attendance allowance.
To exercise these rights, an application should be filed with the competent authority in the unit of local self-government; that is, the competent administrative authority of the City of Zagreb, while the Ministry of Croatian Veterans decides on appeals.

Double years of service

The time spent fighting in World War II is calculated as double years of service, as well as time spent in captivity, and may be recorded as double years of service. 
 
The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute is competent for enforcement of this right.

  • Right to free textbooks and scholarships
  • Priority of placement in student dorms
  • Vocational rehabilitation
  • Priority candidate status when seeking employment
  • Priority of placement in care homes
  • Exemption from payment of the fee for conversion of agricultural land
  • Right to transportation and funeral costs
