How to act in case of a fire

Individuals play an important role in fire protection. If we follow certain steps, we can greatly reduce the chances of a fire breaking out. It is also important to follow certain guidelines if there is a fire:
  • Keep your yard clean to reduce the chances of a fire spreading to the buildings.
  • Comply with the ban on open fires pursuant to the instructions of the local self-government.
  • Do not use a barbecue in your household in windy weather. Keep fire extinguishing media near your barbecue and when you are done using it, make sure to put out the embers.
  • In case of a fire, saving yourself takes priority over extinguishing the fire.
  • Avoid inhaling products of combustion.
  • A fire will spread very fast in a boat or caravan. Leave these immediately if you are unable to safely extinguish the fire.
  • If you find yourself near a fire, follow the instructions of firefighters and other authorised persons (the police, etc.).
  • Do not go near the fire location to watch, photograph and/or film the fire and it being extinguished.
