Issuing a Passport Abroad

If you are residing abroad for a longer period, the passport may be issued by the diplomatic mission or consulate of the Republic of Croatia in the country on whose territory you are residing

Application for the issuance of a passport shall be submitted in person on the assigned form which you will be provided at the diplomatic mission or consulate. Upon submitting the application, the officer shall take two fingerprints by scanning them through special devices and the application shall be signed by hand.

In order to enable equal and joint care of a child, both parents shall be present during the issuance process of their child’s passport. The application for the issuance of a child’s travel document shall be submitted by both parents in person or it may be submitted by one parent if the other one opts to collect it. If one parent has other commitments, they can give the other parent consent to obtain the child’s travel document.

The application for the issuance of a child’s travel document may be submitted by only one parent if the other parent is deceased or was declared deceased, legally incapacited in the part that concerns obtaining travel documents, if they exercise the right to full custody or custody in this part pursuant to a court decision or if the other parent’s right to parental care is inactive pursuant to a court decision. Such court decisions shall be in effect in the Republic of Croatia.

In case of legally incapacitated persons, the application for the issuance of passport shall be submitted by their legal representative.

The application for the issuance of a passport at a diplomatic mission or Croatian consulate abroad shall be charged pursuant to

the Regulation on Administrative Fee Tariffs.
