Fires
Learn about basic dangers of fire and teach children how to call the fire brigade
Fire prevention:
- Take care of flammable substances, gas bottles and store them properly, in line with the regulations
- Teach your children and family about basic dangers of fire and fire prevention measures, evacuation from the building, using fire extinguishers and how to call the fire brigade for help
- Do not leave matches, lighters and other dangerous items within reach of children
- Do not leave fire unattended and keep in mind that it is uncontrolled burning of weeds or rubbish outdoors is prohibited
- Keep hearths, boilers, gas lines, pressurised containers, fuel tanks, heating bodies and electrical installations in good state of repair and use them properly
- Check the condition of fire protection in your household and building and plan and try out safe and quick exit routes
- never leave a dish roasted on a pan in oil or cooked/cooked unattended
- All household products (e.g. deodorants in pressurised vials, hazardous, flammable chemicals, lanterns, scented candles, etc.), household appliances and appliances only and only use and maintain as instructed by the manufacturer
- • installation-placement in rooms and bedrooms of minimally unnetworked smoke detectors, which have the function of instant smoke detection and alarm
- • in rooms with fireplaces (gas boilers, stoves burning solid, liquid and gaseous fuels, garages, etc.) installation - installation of a minimally unnetworked carbon monoxide detector (CO-detector) with the function of immediate detection and notification of increased carbon monoxide concentration (CO)
If there is a fire near you:
- Call the fire brigade at 193 or 112
- Try to extinguish the fire with extinguishers or items at your disposal if you are not endangering yourself or other persons with this
- If you are in a building and there is a fire which you are unable to extinguish, leave the building as quickly as possible
- If you cannot leave the building due to the smoke, close all openings to prevent the smoke from entering your space
- Do not enter the stairwell if it is filled with smoke, do not use the lift and do not breathe in products of combustion
- If you are trapped in your apartment, wait for the fire brigade at the window so that they can see you, because fire engines are made to rescue people from heights
- Follow the fire brigade’s instructions.
