Ministry of the Interior and Agency for Commercial Activities invite citizens to activate their identity card and download mobile application Certilia

Introduction of a digital identity card reduces administrative burden, simplifies numerous procedures, facilitates communication and makes citizens’ everyday life easier

The introduction of the new, second-generation electronic identity card (eID) in August last year was an opportunity to present novelties thanks to which the full application of advanced technologies was made possible.

In addition to the certificates on the identity card, which enable identification for the purpose of accessing digital services and electronic signing of documents, with the introduction of the new eID, citizens can now import certificates to mobile devices and use them on mobile phones and other mobile devices.
Certificates contain a person’s identification data and their public key, which enables the data necessary to verify the electronic signature and confirm the person’s identity to be unequivocally linked to the natural person. The certificate is valid for 5 years.

The mobile identity facilitates and simplifies the use of e-services with the highest security level using the free mobile app Certilia, enabling citizens access to the following services via their mobile devices:
  • submitting the application for the issuance of a passport or a driving licence
  • requesting delivery of documents to one’s home address
  • using the Health Portal or making a doctor’s appointment
  • registering the birth of a child
  • enrolling a child in kindergarten
  • or signing a contract, for which it is often necessary to have a remote signing certificate with the same legal force as a handwritten signature which enables qualified electronic signing of documents without a reader or a card.
The prerequisite for registering new users and downloading MobileID apps remote certificates is identification, which requires an activated electronic identity card.

As part of promotional activities, a simple and quick activation of the eID is offered to citizens who do not have a card reader at mobile kiosks throughout Croatia, where other additional services are offered to citizens as well. The mobile kiosks can be found at the following locations:

Citizens who have an identity card with a chip (identity cards of the previous generation), but have not activated the digital part of the card, do not need to change the document. In case they lose the initial data for registration and activation, they can simply request a new PIN at the competent police administration.

We invite you to join us and come to the mobile kiosks so that we can step into the digital age together!
